Another ‘Downton Abbey’ star has confirmed they won’t be in the movie
We now know that another Downton Abbey character will not be returning for the upcoming film.
Written by Downton creator Julian Fellowes, the movie finished filming last November and will feature pretty much the entire TV show’s main cast reprising their roles.
Of the show’s surviving characters, so far only Lily James (Lady Rose) had confirmed that she won’t be back.
Dan Stevens, who played Matthew Crawley, has also quashed the rumours that he’ll be appearing.
We can now add another name to the list of no-shows, as actor Ed Speleers has revealed he wasn’t asked to return.
The 31-year-old actor played Jimmy Kent in three seasons and departed following 2014’s Christmas special.
Speleers told Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch show: “I didn’t get the call, unfortunately. To be fair, I’m doing Rain Man so I wasn’t able to do it.”
He added: “I don’t think it would be right for my character to come back anyway.”
Outlander fans may have recognised Speelers in the recent fourth season, playing the villainous Stephen Bonnet.
While the plot of the upcoming Downton Abbey movie has been shrouded in secrecy so far, a new trailer last week hinted at some very special Royal visitors.
The Downton Abbey movie arrives in cinemas this September.
