James Norton’s replacement in ‘Grantchester’ has been announced!
ITV has finally revealed who has been cast as the new vicar in Grantchester.
It was confirmed in May that Grantchester will be back for a fourth season, but also that James Norton will be departing as Sidney Chambers.
Executive producer Rebecca Eaton commented: “We want to assure [fans] that the series they love will continue with brilliant new episodes and a captivating new vicar.”
Filming began on Season 4 last month and it’s now been announced that Tom Brittney is joining the cast as Geordie’s new crime-solving partner, Reverend Will Davenport.
The 27-year-old actor has previously appeared in Outlander and Call the Midwife.
Returning cast members will include Robson Green as Detective Geordie Keating, alongside Al Weaver, Tessa Peake-Jones and Kacey Ainsworth.
Based on James Runcie’s novels, the period drama series is set in the 1950s in the Cambridgeshire village of Grantchester and was first broadcast in 2014.
Season 3 is available now to buy on DVD.
The fourth season of Grantchester is expected to air in the UK on ITV in early 2019 and on Masterpiece on PBS in the US at a later date.
