Jim Carter downplays hopes for ‘Downton Abbey’ movie

Downton Abbey star Jim Carter doesn’t sound too hopeful about the long-awaited spin-off movie in a recent interview.

The 68-year-old actor, who played butler Mr Carson in all six seasons of the hit period drama, was asked about the likelihood of the movie actually happening on the UK’s Good Morning Britain programme.

Carter snapped back: “Do I look like Julian Fellowes? Do I look like I write the thing?”

He added: “The man’s busy writing West End musicals!”

The president of NBCUniversal International Studios officially announced in June that a Downton Abbey movie would begin filming next year, but actress Joanne Froggatt recently let slip that she still has “no information” about whether it’s really going ahead or not.

Downton Abbey: The Complete Collection is available to buy now.

Jim Carter can currently be seen – or, rather, heard – in cinemas providing the voice of robot butler Cogman in Transformers: The Last Knight.
