‘Killing Eve’ star joins ‘Gladiator’ director’s Napoleon Bonaparte epic ‘Kitbag’

Ridley Scott’s new historical movie is lining up a great cast.

The Gladiator director recently finished filming his upcoming King Charles VI drama The Last Duel.

However, the 83-year-old doesn’t waste  any time before planning his next epic project!

Titled Kitbag, the film is described as “an original and personal look at Napoleon Bonaparte’s origins and his swift, ruthless climb to emperor, viewed through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Josephine.”

English actress Jodie Comer is apparently set to take on the role of Josephine.

Scott was so impressed working with Comer on The Last Duel that he wants to collaborate with the 28-year-old star again.

The 28-year-old shot to fame in BBC America’s Killing Eve.

She’s also appeared in The White Princess, Doctor Foster, and Inspector George Gently.

American actor Joaquin Phoenix (Joker) looks set to fill the Bonaparte role.

Phoenix previously received an Oscar nomination for his role as Commodus in Scott’s 2000 movie Gladiator.

Ridley Scott hopes to begin filming Kitbag in the UK towards the start of 2022.

First up he’s filming House of Gucci in Italy, with Lady Gaga playing murderess Patrizia Reggiani, alongside Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Adam Driver, and Jared Leto.

Does he ever stop working?!

The Last Duel will be released in cinemas this October.

Written by Good Will Hunting writers Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, the movie sees King Charles VI declare that knight Jean de Carrouges must take part in single combat fight to the death against his squire Jacques LeGris in 14th century France.

The cast includes Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Alex Lawther (The Imitation Game), Harriet Walter (Downton Abbey), and Ben Affleck as King Charles VI.

Jodie Comer will begin filming the fourth and final season of Killing Eve later this year.

Killing Eve is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
