‘Liar’ Season 2: ‘Downton’ star’s drama returns soon – watch the trailer!
The first trailer has been released for the new season of Joanne Froggatt’s Liar.
Written by The Missing creators Harry and Jack Williams, the six-part thriller was ITV’s highest rated new drama of 2017.
The first season told the story of a night that forever changes the lives of two strangers, played by Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey) and Ioan Gruffudd (Hornblower).
Season 2 finally began filming in spring last year and the six new episodes will premiere in the UK next month.
Froggatt, best known as Anna Bates in all six seasons of Downton Abbey, and Gruffudd will both return, despite [SPOILER WARNING!] the discovery of Gruffudd’s character Andrew Earlham’s murdered body at the end of Season 1.

The official synopsis reads: “Series 2 picks up three weeks after an arrest warrant was issued for Andrew Earlham for the sexual assault of 19 women.
“When Andrew’s body is found in the Kent marshes, Detective Renton alongside DS Rory Maxwell are tasked with uncovering clues about Andrew’s past and unpacking the events of the three crucial weeks leading up to his murder.”
There’ll be a Downton Abbey reunion in the second season of Liar, with Emmerdale actress Amy Nuttall, who starred alongside Joanna Froggatt in Downton as housemaid Ethel Parks, playing a new character called Winnie Peterson.
Also joining the cast of Liar are Katherine Kelly (Mr Selfridge) and Howard Charles (The Musketeers).
Season 2 begins on ITV in March and it’ll air in the US on SundanceTV later this year.
Joanne Froggatt reprised her role as Anna Bates in the Downton Abbey movie last year and she’s expected to return in the upcoming sequel.
The first season of Liar is available on DVD on Amazon.
