‘Miss Scarlet and The Duke’ writer promises ‘adventure and romance’ in Season 2
There’s going to be a second season of Miss Scarlet and The Duke!
The period crime drama premiered in the UK in 2020 and aired in the US earlier this year on PBS.
Miss Scarlet and The Duke stars English actress Kate Phillips (Wolf Hall, The Crown) as Eliza Scarlet, the first ever female detective in 1800s London.
Season 2 is set to commence production soon, with Phillips returning as the fearless Miss Scarlet, alongside Stuart Martin (Jamestown) as Inspector William “The Duke” Wellington.
Show creator Rachael New commented: “I’m absolutely thrilled at the news that Miss Scarlet and The Duke will be back for a season 2.”
The former Grantchester writer hinted: “I have so much in store for Duke, Eliza and her crew. With even more action, adventure and of course a nice big dollop of romance, it’s going to be a cracking season.”
She added: “The fans are going to LOVE it!”
The show’s official synopsis reads: “When [Eliza Scarlet’s] father dies, he leaves her penniless in a time where marriage is her only option for financial security. But the headstrong Eliza is determined to find another way and tales over his private detective agency.
“To operate in this man’s world, she needs a partner, Detective Inspector William Wellington of Scotland Yard, who is also known as The Duke, a drinker, gambler and womanizer. Eliza and Duke strike up a mismatched, fiery relationship and team up to solve crime in 1880s London.”
