Netflix shares teaser trailer of The Diplomat season 2

Netflix shared the first teaser trailer for the second season its political thriller starring Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell. The second instalment of the critically acclaimed series is due to arrive on Netflix at the end of October.

What is it about?

Russell plays Kate Wyler, a diplomat who is preparing to accept a post in Afghanistan when the White House unexpectedly changes plans and appoints her US ambassador to the United Kingdom.

She arrives in London, accompanied by her fellow diplomat and former ambassador husband Hal, played by Rufus Sewell. The job will see Kate having to manage international crises, forge strategic alliances with her new international partners as well as manage the unwanted attention that comes with such a prestigious position. All this while trying to extricate herself from her failing marriage to the charismatic but meddling Hal.

The first season ended in an explosive finale which left viewers unsure about the fate of one of the main characters.

Spoiler alert

“The Diplomat” Season 2 trailer clears up the mystery. It shows that Hal is still alive and has survived the car bombing in the season one finale. The couple are seen walking arm in arm at a formal event, hinting that the couple’s relationship may have survived the shocking terror attack that nearly killed Hal. Kate is aware that the attack came from within the British government and so may not wish to be rid of her husband after all.
