New Eva Longoria and Carmen Maura series ‘Land of Women’ premieres on Apple TV
The new six-episode mini-series premieres this week on Apple TV+, with the first two episodes on Wednesday, June 26th, followed by a new episode every Wednesday until July 24th.
What is it about?
“Land of Women” is a comedy-drama starring Longoria as Gala, a successful New Yorker whose life is thrown into disarray when her husband gets into financial trouble and falls foul of some very dangerous people. When her husband disappears and she discovers that there are criminals coming after her family, Gala flees her home in New York with her aging mother Julia and teenage daughter Kate in tow. They go to her mother’s home town in the North of Spain from which Julia had fled 50 years previously. They intend to lie low but it proves to be very hard to keep a secret in a small town.
Who is in it?
The series boasts of a strong cast, with Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives) as Gala, Spanish-treasure Carmen Maura (Volver), as Victoria Bazua as Kate.
The supporting cast includes Santiago Cabrera (The Musketeers), Gloria Munoz (The Flower Of My Secret), Ariadna Gil (Pan’s Labyrinth), James Purefoy (Rome) and Layna Sheppard.
Who is behind it?
The series was created and written by Ramon Campos, Gema R. Neira and Paula Fernandez, with an additional writing credit to Marina Velasquez. It was directed by Carolos Sedes and Ken Biler. Filming took place in Barcelona and started in October, 2022.
