‘Outlander’ Season 5 begins filming: When will it be on TV?

Brilliant news for Outlander fans!

The fifth season is now in production, with filming underway in Scotland.

It’ll be based on The Fiery Cross, the fifth book in author Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series.

Season 4 concluded on Starz in January, but two more seasons of Outlander had already been confirmed.

There will be one less episode than usual in Season 5 and Season 6, however, with 12 episodes in each.

Starz boss Chris Albrecht previously commented: “Fans can rest assured their beloved Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) will be back facing new challenges, adversaries and adventures in seasons five and six as we delve into American history and continue the story of the Frasers as they settle in the New World.”

Caitriona Balfe posted a photo on Instagram earlier this month, revealing a sneak peek at the script for the new season’s first episode!

Filming is due to take around 8 months, so we’d expect Season 5 to premiere in early 2020, perhaps in January or February.

The new episodes will again debut in the UK on Amazon Prime Video the day after their broadcast on Starz in the USA.

Season 4 is available on DVD on Amazon.
