‘Outlander’ Season 5 start date confirmed by Starz – but it’s not for a while!
Starz have officially announced when the next season of Outlander will begin.
Based on the fifth book in author Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, The Fiery Cross, twelve new episodes began filming in Scotland earlier this year.
It was recently reported that the historical fantasy drama’s return had been pushed back a few months, but we know how exactly how much longer the Droughtlander will last.
Season 5 will premiere in the US on Sunday 16th February 2020 on Starz.
Episodes are expected to debut in the UK the following day on Amazon Prime Video.
Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe (Claire) and Sam Heughan (Jamie) have already given fans a little behind the scenes preview.
The official story synopsis for Season 5 reads: “Establishing a home in the New World is by no means an easy task – and protecting it proves even more difficult – particularly in the wild backcountry of North Carolina during a period of dramatic sociopolitical upheaval.
“As Claire knows all too well, friends, neighbours and countrymen are unwittingly marching towards Revolution, with members of the elite ruling classes struggling to stifle the alarming undercurrent of unrest triggered by the Regulator Movement.
“Against this backdrop, which soon heralds the birth of the new American nation, Claire and Jamie are forced to ask themselves just how far they are willing to go to protect their home, and praying there will be no reason to light the fiery cross, an ancient Scottish call to arms.”
The previous season of Outlander concluded in January, with another two seasons confirmed before it had even started.
Season 4 is available on DVD on Amazon.
