Rupert Everett and Ruby Stokes cast in new period biopic of the fifth Marquess of Anglesey, ‘Madfabulous’

Filming is underway in Wales on the new period feature about the flamboyant 19th century aristocrat, Henry Paget, the fifth Marquess of Anglesey.  Rupert Everett (The Happy Prince) and Ruby Stokes (Bridgerton) will join Callum Scott Howells (It’s A Sin), who will play the role of Henry Paget.

What is it about?

Henry Paget was a British peer who was known for his opulent lifestyle, squandering a great fortune and running up massive debts before his death. He is estimated to have spent the equivalent of £43 million during his short life, leading to his becoming declared bankrupt in 1904.

Madfabulous will not be a conventional period drama though. It is described in the official synopsis as “a fantastical reimagining of this rebellious figure’s life as he smashes through Victorian society’s protocols of elitism and gender.

It also says: “Known for his gregarious theatrical expressions, exuberant sense of fashion and lavish social life, Paget spent a multi-million-pound fortune before his untimely death at age 29.”
