‘Sanditon’ producers thank fans for their ‘extraordinary support’

The makers of Sanditon have shared a look at the fan mail they’ve received.

Based on Jane Austen’s unfinished final novel, the period drama premiered in the UK last autumn and the series concluded its US airing in February on PBS.

Sadly, ITV had announced earlier this year that they weren’t going to renew Sanditon and last month PBS confirmed fans’ worst fears by revealing that “there are no plans for another season.”

This hasn’t stopped the show’s community of fans from showing their love, however!

The official Sanditon account on Twitter has posted some photos of the huge volume of letters they’ve received.

They said: “WOW! Look what we found! Thank you #SanditonSisterhood for your extraordinary support. Your letters keep us smiling during these difficult times. We are so glad you love the show as much as we do.”

The Sanditon team previously commented: “Thank you #Sanditonsisterhood, #SaveSanditon and #Sidlotte fans everywhere. These letters, like you, are amazing!”

They added: “Stay well and huge thanks again.”

The producers also responded to a fan petition demanding a second season of Sanditon, which has now amassed nearly 50,000 signatures.

They wrote: “Wow – thank you for your support. Your love for #Sanditon is so overwhelming and humbling.”

While we wait for news on Season 2, take a look at all the other British period drama series on their way in 2020.

Sanditon is available on DVD on Amazon.
