‘Sanditon’ is back: Watch the epic Season 3 trailer!

PBS has released some exciting new videos ahead of the return of Sanditon.

ITV’s hit period drama is back this weekend in the US, ahead of its UK premiere later in 2023.

Based on Jane Austen’s unfinished final novel, Sanditon was revived by BritBox and PBS for a surprise second season last year following its previous cancellation.

Fortunately, two brand new seasons were filmed back to back, so there was no chance fans would be left hanging again after Season 2’s emotional finale.

It has sadly since been confirmed that the upcoming third season will be the show’s last, so let’s take a sneak peek at what’s ahead for Charlotte Heywood and friends.

Promising “drama, romance, gossip, laughter, [and] tears,” the main cast give some hints about the new episodes in this ‘Welcome Back to Sanditon’ preview:

Eloise Webb, who plays Augusta Markham, teasingly reveals: “[There are] some interesting love stories that I’m so happy we explored and let them play out. That’s all I’m gonna say, because it’s too exciting, you need to watch it!”

If the events of Season 2 are a little hazy in your memory, this quick recap will act as a helpful reminder:

You can also catch up on every episode from the first two seasons of Sanditon with this free 7-day trial of the PBS Masterpiece channel on Amazon Prime.

Next up, we’ve got a fun little clip titled ‘Girl Power,’ celebrating “the outspoken, independent, determined girls and women of Sanditon!”

You can take a look at that here:

Lastly, we’ve got the official Season 3 trailer in all its romantic glory.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it is time the fireworks,” announces Georgiana (Crystal Clarke).

The 90 seconds of exciting footage shown here certainly backs that up!

Season 3 premieres in the US at 9/8c on Sunday 19th March on PBS Masterpiece, with new episodes airing weekly on Sunday nights through March and April.

For UK fans eagerly awaiting the return of Sanditon, the final season is expected to premiere on BritBox (or maybe ITV’s new streaming service ITVX) in the coming months.

Here’s a clip from the first episode:

Season 3 will then be broadcast on ITV1 later in the year.

Reflecting on the show ending, executive producer Susanne Simpson commented: “We’re sad to take leave of this marvelous series, which has all the wit and joy expected of a Jane Austen-inspired drama. We know viewers will be on the edge of their seats as the final pieces fall into place.”

Sanditon is available on DVD on Amazon.
