‘Sanditon’ preview: 3 brand new photos reveal Season 3 hints and a newcomer
The makers of Sanditon have released the first images from the next season!
Based on Jane Austen’s unfinished final novel, the hit period drama launched three years ago on ITV.
After the emotional rollercoaster of the show’s cancellation and subsequent surprise renewal, Sanditon returned earlier this year on PBS in the US and streaming on BritBox in the UK.
Fortunately, the second and third seasons were filmed back to back, so there was no chance of us being left without an ending this time!
A brief teaser clip for Season 3 was unveiled back in April, when PBS confirmed the show’s 2023 return.
We’ve now got our best look yet at what lies ahead for Charlotte and friends, thanks to three brand new promotional photos…
In the first picture, we’re told: “Ben Lloyd-Hughes returns in Season 3 as Alexander Colbourne, whose feelings for Charlotte came to a head at the end of Season 2, but didn’t quite resolve the way either of them hoped for. Is his chance at a happily ever after with Charlotte officially gone?”
Actor Ben Lloyd-Hughes previously teased that the third season of Sanditon will provide viewers with “even more excitement, romance, fun, and tears in both forms.”
While a couple of fan-favourite characters unfortunately won’t be coming back, there will be some fresh faces.
One of those in Edward Davis, who you may recognise from 2020’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma, and BBC mini-series The Little Drummer Girl.
He’ll be playing Lord Montrose, here seen escorting Georgia Lambe to an event.
PBS has teased: “Who exactly is this new mystery man?”
We’ll find out next year!
Lastly, we’ve got a lovely glimpse of Rose Williams, who “returns as Charlotte Heywood, the headstrong heroine of Sanditon.”
In this photo, “she returns to Sanditon with her hometown fiance in tow, Ralph Starling played by Cai Brigden.”
The third season of Sanditon will premiere in the US airing weekly on Sunday nights on PBS in early 2023.
We expect each new episode will arrive in the UK the following day, streaming on BritBox (or possibly the newly-launched streaming service ITVX.)
Season 3 then be broadcast on ITV in the UK several months later, as the second season was, most likely next summer.
While we try to wait patiently, check out this fun collection of behind the scenes videos exploring the making of Sanditon.
