‘Sanditon’ first look: PBS teases Season 3 return date with new trailer – watch!
PBS has provided Sanditon fans with their first glimpse of the next season.
Based on Jane Austen’s unfinished final novel, the popular period drama launched nearly three years ago on ITV.
Sanditon returned to our screens last month, following the emotional rollercoaster of the show’s cancellation and subsequent surprise renewal for another two seasons.
Season 2 came to an end last night in the US on Masterpiece on PBS, with the finale streaming on BritBox in the UK from today.
You can read more about that in our epic in-depth recap!
With all six episodes of Sanditon‘s second season now over, fans are inevitably keen to discover what will happen in the next chapter of the story – and when…
Well, while we can’t give you an exact date for Season 3’s premiere, fortunately we know there’s no chance that viewers will be left waiting another three years this time.
The third season of Sanditon was filmed back-to-back with Season 2 last year, so production on the next batch of episodes has thankfully already wrapped.
Sadly, PBS has confirmed that it’ll still be at least 8 months or so until we see our favourite characters again.
A brand new teaser released last night announced that the third season of Sanditon is “coming 2023.”
At least we’ll have plenty of time to rewatch the story so far before then.
Masterpiece’s brief trailer for Season 3 teases: “You’ll never guess who’s returned to Sanditon!”

Fans have shared their excitement on YouTube, with one commenting: “I have absolutely LOVED Season 2! I’m 100% #TeamHeybourne and don’t know how I’m going wait until 2023.”
Another wrote: “This glimpse of Season 3 looks magical already! I’m rooting for Charlotte and Alexander to get together! AND – I think Arthur Parker got his dream Royal theatre built!”
Not everyone is happy about the long wait though: “We all know season 3 is ready to watch. Let’s start an email campaign to get it to air this year. We all cannot stand the torture of waiting to see what happens to Charlotte and Colburne.”
You can catch up on all six episodes of Season 2 via PBS Masterpiece on Amazon with a free 7-day trial!
UK viewers who don’t have access to BritBox will be able to watch the new season on ITV later this year.
