‘Spencer’ first look: Princess Diana movie reveals release date and trailer
A teaser trailer has been unveiled for Spencer.
Written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, the upcoming Princess Diana biopic is set during Christmas 1991 at Sandringham.
Kristen Stewart (Twilight) leads the cast as the late Princess of Wales.
She’s joined by Jack Farthing (The ABC Murders) as Prince Charles.
The 35-year-old English actor is best known as George Warleggan in the BBC’s Poldark.
The cast of Spencer also includes Thomas Douglas as Diana’s father, John Spencer, and Olga Hellsing as Sarah Ferguson, alongside Timothy Spall, Sally Hawkins, Amy Manson, and Sean Harris.
The film’s official synopsis reads: “The marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles has long since grown cold. Though rumours of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate.
“There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. But this year, things will be a whole lot different.”

Described as “an imagining of what might have happened during those few fateful days,” the movie is directed by Pablo Larraín (Jackie).
Spencer receives its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival next week.
It’ll then arrive cinemas on Friday 5th November in both the US and the UK.

Kristen Stewart previously discussed the appeal of playing Diana, explaining: “I remember imagery from the funeral as a really little kid. I remember being really viscerally affected by that.”
The 31-year-old American actress said: “I always just thought that this person was sort of stolen from us and I always had a curiosity about her. Every day that I unfold this story, the more emotionally invested I get.”
Jack Farthing reunited with his former Poldark co-star Eleanor Tomlinson in Netflix’s rom-com Love Wedding Repeat last year.
Poldark came to an end in 2019 after five seasons.
Spencer is available on DVD on Amazon.
