‘The Gilded Age’ future revealed: Will there be a Season 3?

HBO has made an official announcement about the future of The Gilded Age!

Set in New York at the end of the 19th century, the lavish period drama series comes from Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes.

The Gilded Age launched in January 2022 and returned with a second season last October.

Fortunately, the latest run was a hit for HBO and they’ve now confirmed that The Gilded Age has been renewed for a third season!

“There is much more story to tell with The Gilded Age,” commented Erin Underhill at Universal Television.

“We’re delighted that HBO is giving fans another season of Julian Fellowes’ incredible storytelling,” she said.

“The cast and crew put so much of their heart and soul into the last two seasons, and we’re so proud that all this hard work is paying off with another season… you won’t want to miss what’s next!” teased Underhill.

With a gap of over 20 months between the transmission of the first two seasons, it’s looking unlikely that we’ll see Season 3 in 2024, however.

Even if filming begins within the next few months, we’d expect that spring 2025 is the earliest possible release date for the show’s next chapter.

In the meantime, you can stream every episode of The Gilded Age so far on HBO’s streaming service Max or via Amazon Prime Video here.

“We’re so proud of what Julian Fellowes and The Gilded Age family have achieved,” praised HBO’s head of Drama Series and Films, Francesca Orsi.

“From the costumes to the production design and performances, the show has captivated so many week after week. Along with our partners at Universal Television, we are thrilled to continue this grand tale for a third season,” she added.

While we wait for the third season, you can check out the new adaptation of Edith Wharton’s The Buccaneers on Apple TV+, which has been described as “Bridgerton meets The Gilded Age.

The Gilded Age fans shouldn’t get their hopes up about a third Downton Abbey movie though.

Despite the success of 2022’s Downton Abbey: A New Era, writer Julian Fellowes has said he’s ready to accept that the franchise may have “run its course.”

The Gilded Age is available to watch on Max.
