Netflix reveals start date and trailer for spooky drama based on ‘Turn of the Screw’

A new period drama horror premieres on Netflix next month, just in time for Halloween!

The Haunting of Bly Manor is inspired by the works of 19th-century author Henry James, in particular his iconic 1898 ghost story The Turn of the Screw.

The series is Netflix’s follow-up to 2018’s hit The Haunting of Hill House and, even though it’s an all-new story and setting, features some of the same cast members.

Joining Victoria Pedretti, Henry Thomas, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen from The Haunting of Hill House are British stars T’Nia Miller (Years and Years), Rahul Kohli (iZombie), and Tahirah Sharif (Casualty).

The Haunting of Bly Manor will be available to watch exclusively on Netflix worldwide from Friday 9th October.

Not much is known about the plot yet, but the story will follow an American tutor Dani Clayton (Pedretti) who takes on a new job teaching orphans Miles and Flora Wingrave in their stately home in England, only to discover the house has a grim history.

Henry Thomas (E.T.) is playing the Wingrave children’s distant uncle.

The Turn of the Screw was previously adapted by the BBC in 2009 – featuring Downton Abbey stars Michelle Dockery, Sue Johnston, and Dan Stevens – and it’s currently available to watch free on Amazon Prime Video.
