WW2 movie ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’ reveals action-packed trailer
The first trailer has been unveiled for Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare!
Best known for his pair of hit Sherlock Holmes movies, the English director is back with a new action-adventure movie set during the Second World War and it looks absolutely bonkers.
Ritchie is adapting historian Damien Lewis‘s book, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: How Churchill’s Secret Warriors Set Europe Ablaze and Gave Birth to Modern Black Ops.

First announced back in early 2021, the movie boasts a stellar cast of British and international names.
Joining lead star Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) are Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians), Alex Pettyfer (Stormbreaker), Hero Fiennes Tiffin (Harry Potter), Eiza González (Baby Driver), Alan Ritchson (Reacher), Babs Olusamokun (Black Mirror), Henrique Zaga (The New Mutants), Til Schweiger (Inglourious Basterds), and Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride), with Freddie Fox (The Pursuit of Love) playing James Bond creator Ian Fleming.
When’s the release date?
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare will be released in cinemas on Friday 19 April 2024.
“Based upon recently declassified files of the British War Department and inspired by true events, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare tells the story of the first-ever special forces organization formed during WWII by UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials including author Ian Fleming,” the official synopsis reveals.
“The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly “ungentlemanly” fighting techniques.
“Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare.”
If you enjoyed the BBC’s recent SAS Rogue Heroes series – which has a second season on the way – this might be right up your street.
“Henry Cavill looks like he’s having a blast in this film,” commented a YouTube user after watching the trailer for The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
“I didn’t know I needed unhinged Henry Cavill this much,” joked another.
There was plenty more praise for Cavill online, with one fan saying: “He is one of the few actors whose enjoyment shines through while on screen no matter what role he plays!”
Damien Lewis’s book The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is available on Amazon.
