Anthony Hopkins’ movie ‘One Life’ lands US release date

A release date in the US has been announced for the wonderful new British movie One Life!

Based on an incredible true story of bravery and heroism, the highly-acclaimed film stars Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs) and Helena Bonham Carter (Enola Holmes).

One Life was released in UK cinemas in January, with reviewers praising Hopkins on “peak form” for giving “another emotionally wrecking performance” in the “incredibly moving” drama.

Directed by James Hawes (Black Mirror, Merlin), One Life is adapted from Barbara Winton‘s book If It’s Not Impossible… The Life of Sir Nicholas Winton.

Hopkins and Bonham Carter are joined in the cast by Jonathan Pryce (The Crown), Romola Garai (Atonement), Alex Sharp (Living), Samantha Spiro (Game of Thrones), and Johnny Flynn (Emma).

When’s the US release date?

One Life will arrive in American theatres on Friday 15 March 2024.

One Life tells the incredible, emotional true story of Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton (Flynn/Hopkins), a young London broker who visits Prague in December 1938.

In a race against time, Winton convinces Trevor Chadwick (Sharp) and Doreen Warriner (Garai) of the British Committee for Refugees in Czechoslovakia to rescue hundreds of predominantly Jewish children before Nazi occupation closes the borders.

Fifty years later, Nicky is haunted by the fate of the children he wasn’t able to bring to safety in England.

It’s not until the BBC show That’s Life! re-introduces him to some of those he helped rescue that he finally begins to come to terms with the guilt and grief he carried – all the while skyrocketing from anonymity to a national hero.

Set on the eve of World War II, Freud’s Last Session stars the Oscar-winning Welsh actor as Sigmund Freud, alongside Downton Abbey actor Matthew Goode as Narnia author C.S. Lewis.
