Dawn French will star in TV drama about when Roald Dahl met Beatrix Potter
A heart-warming new TV movie has been announced for this Christmas.
The Tail of the Curious Mouse was announced at Sky’s Up Next showcase event at the Tate Modern in London earlier this month.
The one-off 60-minute film comes from the makers of Sherlock and Dracula.
The Vicar of Dibley star Dawn French will play Peter Rabbit creator Beatrix Potter.
The English writer, illustrator, natural scientist, and conservationist was previously played by Renée Zellweger in the 2006 movie Miss Potter.
Written by Abi Wilson, The Tail of the Curious Mouse is inspired by the true story of when a young Roald Dahl met his hero, Beatrix Potter.
With Beatrix coming to the end of her career and Roald aged only six and having recently lost his father and sister, this meeting of two literary legends was to have an enormous impact on the lives of both writers.
The Tail of the Curious Mouse will premiere in the UK on Sky One and NOW TV in December.
A new movie about Roald Dahl’s marriage to actress Patricia Neal recently finished filming.
The film features an amazing cast of British period drama stars, including Hugh Bonneville from Downton Abbey.
Roald Dahl’s autobiography Boy: Tales of Childhood is available on Amazon.
