‘The Thick of It’ star joins fourth season of ‘Poldark’ as a ‘powerful new character’
A major addition to the cast of Poldark has been revealed as the new season continues filming.
Season 4 began shooting in Cornwall earlier this month and will air on BBC One in 2018.
Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson will be back as Ross Poldark and his wife Demelza in eight new episodes of the Cornish period drama.
Joining the cast will be Rebecca Front as the formidable mother of Reverend Ossie Whitworth, played by Christian Brassington.
Lady Whitworth is described as “a powerful new character.”
Front is best known for the roles in War and Peace, Humans and The Thick of It.
Returning characters in the fourth season will include George Warleggan (Jack Farthing), Elizabeth (Heida Reed), Morwenna (Ellise Chappell), Reverend Ossie Whitworth (Christian Brassington), Drake and Sam Carne (Harry Richardson and Tom York), Prudie (Beatie Edney), Lieutenant Hugh Armitage (Josh Whitehouse), and the Enyses (Luke Norris and Gabriella Wilde).
The complete first and second seasons of Poldark are available to buy on DVD now.
Season 3 will premiere in the US at 9/8c on Sunday October 1 on Masterpiece on PBS.
