Watch inspiring new trailer for movie about ‘Lord of the Rings’ author J. R. R. Tolkien

A second trailer has been released for upcoming period drama movie Tolkien.

Based on the life of the Lord of the Rings creator, the biopic from Finnish director Dome Karukoski stars X-Men actor Nicholas Hoult as the young J. R. R. Tolkien.

The cast also includes Lily Collins (Les Miserables), Colm Meaney (Star Trek), Pam Ferris (Call the Midwife) and Derek Jacobi (Last Tango in Halifax).

The official synopsis reads: “Tolkien explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the “fellowship” apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels.”

Following last month’s first teaser trailer, this new two-minute preview features stunning new footage from Tolkien:
