Two ‘Downton Abbey’ stars have joined ‘The White Queen’ follow-up series
The Spanish Princess will reunite two former Downton Abbey cast members on screen.
Starz’s upcoming mini-series is the follow-up to The White Queen and The White Princess.
It will be based on historical novelist Philippa Gregory’s books The Constant Princess and The King’s Curse.
Set in 16th Century London, The Spanish Princess sees Charlotte Hope (The Theory of Everything) play Catherine of Aragon, who was the first wife of King Henry VIII, having previously been married to Henry’s elder brother Arthur.
Laura Carmichael, best known as Lady Edith in Downton Abbey, will play Margaret “Maggie” Pole.
She’ll be joined by Dame Harriet Walter, who appeared as Lady Prudence Shackleton in Downton, playing Margaret Beaufort.
The cast also includes Georgie Henley (The Chronicles of Narnia), Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons) and Olly Rix (Of Kings and Prophets).
The White Queen is available now on DVD on Amazon.
The Spanish Princess is expected to air in the US on Starz in 2019.
