‘Outlander’ Season 6 first trailer arrives: ‘The storm, the war, it’s almost here’
Starz released an official teaser for return of Outlander this weekend!
Based on the sixth book in Diana Gabaldon’s series, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, the upcoming season of Starz’s historical fantasy romance series wrapped filming this summer.
Season 6 was originally meant to have 12 episodes, but due to the “the challenges of filming in these unprecedented times” it’ll now only have eight.
With the cast taking part in New York Comic Con, the first footage from Season 6 was unveiled to fans in the form of a brand new one-minute trailer:
Season 6 will premiere on Starz in “early 2022” with an epic 90-minute feature-length opening episode.
Main cast members Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, and John Bell are all reprising their roles in the new season.
They’ll be joined by a number of new characters, including Mark Lewis-Jones (Troy) as Tom, Alexander Vlahos (Merlin) as Allan, and Jessica Reynolds (The Ballad of Audrey Earnshaw) as Malva Christie.
The seventh season of Outlander is set to begin filming in Scotland in 2022.
Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts revealed earlier this year that the “extended Season 7” will comprise 16 episodes.
It’s expected to air sometime in 2023.
In the meantime, the ninth instalment in Diana Gabaldon’s series of fantasy romance stories will be published next month.
