Two stars from ‘The Crown’ are in ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ Season 20
The new season of Who Do You Think You Are? has announced its celebrity line-up!
BBC One’s hit genealogy series returns this summer for its twentieth run.
Nine more famous faces will go on extremely personal journeys as they discover unknown facts and startling truths about their heritage.
“Who Do You Think You Are? is back with nine much-loved celebrities investigating their ancestry,” said executive producer Colette Flight. “The series will see them uncover incredible, moving and dramatic stories as their individual family trees reflect and shine a light on all of our shared history.”
This year’s list of celebrities boasts two of our favourite actresses from The Crown!
Claire Foy, who played the Queen in the first two seasons of Netflix’s award-winning drama, will find out that her family were caught up in a murder trial.
Then Magpie Murders star Lesley Manville will learn how an ancestor fighting for workers’ rights ended up paying a very heavy price.
Manville joined The Crown last year as Princess Margaret and is reprising the role in the upcoming final season.
The new Who Do You Think You Are? line-up also includes musical theatre master Andrew Lloyd Webber, comedian Emily Atack, Strictly Come Dancing winner Kevin Clifton, DJ Dev Griffin, TV host Chris Ramsey, twin doctors Chris and Xand van Tulleken, and adventurer Bear Grylls.
We’re told to expect “shocking truths, tears, and tragedies as well as moving and uplifting stories,” as the celebrities uncover “affecting moments in their family histories that will impact them in ways they didn’t think possible.”
“With familial discoveries ranging from clog-wearing rope dancers and Scottish royalty to murder trials and tragic accidents, the celebrities’ journeys take them across the UK as well as to Ireland, the Netherlands, Canada, Jamaica and Australia in pursuit of the truth behind their family stories,” the official synopsis teases.
When’s the release date?
Who Do You Think You Are? returns in the UK on Thursday 1 June at 9pm on BBC One.
The brand new episodes are expected to make their US debut later in 2023 on BritBox.
Meanwhile, Lesley Manville is set to begin filming a second season of Magpie Murders soon!
