Will there be a seventh season of ‘Father Brown’?

The BBC has announced that Father Brown has been renewed for another season.

Based on the stories by GK Chesterton and set in the Cotswolds, BBC One’s daytime crime drama stars Harry Potter actor Mark Williams as a crime-solving Roman Catholic priest.

The new mysteries will also feature the return of Mrs McCarthy (Sorcha Cusack), Inspector Mallory (Jack Deam) and Bunty Windermere (Emer Kenny).

Father Brown first aired in 2013 and the sixth season concluded in January.

The series is available to buy now on DVD.

Will Trotter, Head of Daytime Drama, BBC Studios commented: “In [Season 7] we see anarchists, ramblers and Morris Dancers all throwing up new adventures for Father Brown but as ever, he’s more concerned with saving souls than in just bringing the guilty to justice. Series seven is set to be the best one yet.”
