Sky has revealed the fate of Britannia.
Set in 43AD, the British historical fantasy series launched on Sky Atlantic in 2018, starring David Morrissey (The Walking Dead) and Mackenzie Crook (The Office).
Britannia is described as “a genre-bending, psychedelic tale of clashing faith systems, torn apart families, mystic men, powerful women, all told with humour, heart and violence.”
Following the success of the show’s second season, which premiered last November, Sky has confirmed today that Britannia will return for a third season!
Britannia creators Jez and Tom Butterworth will both be back to write the brand new episodes.
Cameron Roach, Director of Drama, Sky Studios commented: “We are incredibly proud to be able to continue to grow the Britannia franchise bringing ‘Jez and the team’s unique and distinctive vision to life for a third series.”
Season 3 is expected to begin filming later this year, ahead of a 2021 premiere date.
Britannia is available to watch on Amazon Prime.
