A new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic adventure story Treasure Island is due for release this October, with Hayley Atwell and David Oyelowo at the head of an impressive cast.
Paramount+ has shared the first images from the six-part period drama, which premieres in the UK and Ireland on 12 October 2026, one day after its US debut on MGM+.

What is Treasure Island about?
The new series is a bold reimagining of Stevenson’s famous 1883 novel, with Great Expectations actor Tom Sweet in the role of young Jim Hawkins.
Jim’s adventure begins when he and his fiercely determined mother, Bess Hawkins (Hayley Atwell), get their hands on the legendary Captain Flint’s treasure map.
The discovery sets the mother and son off on a transatlantic adventure as they race to get the fortune, eventually leading them aboard the Hispaniola.
On the ship Jim enters a new and different world where ambitions, secrets and shifting loyalties compete. At the heart of the story is the charismatic and unpredictable Long John Silver, played by David Oyelowo.
