‘All Creatures Great and Small’ preview: New pics and story hints for Season 2
The first photos from the new season of All Creatures Great and Small have been released.
Based on author James Herriot’s much-loved collection of stories, the popular drama series launched in the UK in 2020 and the show debuted in the US on PBS earlier this year.
A second season began filming this spring in Yorkshire, England.
All Creatures Great and Small chronicles the heartwarming and humorous adventures of a young country vet in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1930s.
Here’s our first look at a tense scene between Helen and James in Season 2:
Six brand new episodes will see Nicholas Ralph back as James Herriot, alongside returning regulars Samuel West (Mr. Selfridge) as Siegfried Farnon, Anna Madeley (Deadwater Fell) Mrs Hall, Callum Woodhouse (The Durrells) as Tristan Farnon, and Rachel Shenton (White Gold) as Helen Alderson.
However, Miranda star Patricia Hodge is taking over the role of Mrs. Pumphrey, following the sad passing of the wonderful Dame Diana Rigg last September at the age of 82.

Season 2 will premiere in the UK on Channel 5 this autumn, followed by another Christmas special in December.
The new episodes are expected on PBS in the US in early 2022.
The official synopsis reads: “Three months have passed since the events of Season 1. A trip back home to Glasgow presents James with a dilemma that will mean choosing between the people he loves.
“As Helen and James navigate their feelings for one another, Siegfried, Tristan, and Mrs Hall are also forced to consider their places in the world, while James must ultimately decide between duty and love.”
Also reprising their roles in Season 2 are Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter) as Hugh Hulton, Cleo Sylvestre (Doctors) as Mrs. Chapman, and Kriss Dosanjh (Doctors) as George Pandhi.
There are some exciting new additions to the cast too, with The Vicar of Dibley star James Fleet playing military man and local farmer Colonel Merrick.
Dorothy Atkinson (Call the Midwife, Housewife 49) is also guest starring as Diana Brompton, a new love interest for Siegfried.
All Creatures Great and Small is available on DVD on Amazon.
