BBC orders one-off drama telling story of the man behind Morecambe & Wise

BBC Four has announced the commission of a new TV movie about comedy scriptwriter Eddie Braben.

Written by Neil Forsyth (Bob Servant, Waiting for Andre), the 60-minute comedy-drama will celebrate the man behind the greatest successes of British TV’s legendary comedy duo Morecambe and Wise.

The official synopsis reads: “They were called The Golden Triangle – Morecambe, Wise and Braben.

“For over a decade, the writer Eddie Braben penned Morecambe and Wise’s material, and reshaped the double act into the Eric and Ernie that the nation took to its heart. But it wasn’t all sunshine.”

Eric, Ernie And Me will culminate with the pair’s iconic 1977 Christmas Show, whilst showing the pressure and pain he went through to help create Britain’s most beloved double act.
