Benedict Cumberbatch’s Cold War thriller ‘The Courier’ is coming to DVD

The Courier will be released on DVD and Blu-ray next month!

Set in the 1960s, this nail-biting tale of Cold War espionage drama comes from the director of On Chesil Beach and The Hollow Crown.

Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch leads the cast, alongside Merab Ninidze (McMafia), Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs Maisel), and Jessie Buckley (Wild Rose).

Based on an incredible true story, The Courier follows the extraordinary bravery of one man who helped bring the world back from the brink of nuclear war.

Following its successful run in cinemas earlier this year, The Courier will be available digitally from Friday 29th October, and out to buy on Blu-ray and DVD from Monday 1st November courtesy of Lionsgate UK.

The official synopsis reads: “The Courier is a true-life spy thriller, the story of an unassuming British businessman, Greville Wynne (Benedict Cumberbatch), recruited into one of the greatest international conflicts in history.

“At the behest of the UK’s MI6 and a CIA operative (Rachel Brosnahan), he forms a covert, dangerous partnership with Soviet officer Oleg Penkovsky (Merab Ninidze) in an effort to provide crucial intelligence needed to prevent a nuclear confrontation and defuse the Cuban Missile Crisis.”
