Call the Midwife returns to UK screens this weekend and a heartwarming new trailer has been released.

The latest season of the hit period drama series begins on BBC One at 8pm tomorrow night.

Call the Midwife writer Heidi Thomas has hinted that the eight episodes will see “our beloved Nonnatus House team stretched to the limit, as they face a series of medical, social and emotional challenges.”

Season 7 will also introduce Black Mirror actress Leonie Elliott as Nurse Lucille Anderson, the show’s first West Indian midwife.

Executive producer Pippa Harris previously revealed: “Lucille is a fantastic addition to the Nonnatus House team and we know she will be warmly welcomed by the nuns and midwives.”
