‘Outlander’ boss reassures fans about the show’s future beyond Season 4
A fourth season of Outlander is currently being filmed, but will the fantasy period drama series continue beyond that?
Well, it looks like anxious fans can relax.
Chris Albrecht, CEO of the Starz network (who broadcast the show in the US), has revealed that he’s been having “productive discussions about the future of the show” with the producers at Sony Pictures Television.
So, while a fifth season hasn’t yet been officially confirmed, Albrecht did say at at the Television Critics Association winter press tour: “I wouldn’t worry too much about that.”
Season 4 will adapt the fourth of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novels. A ninth book is due out soon, so there’s certainly plenty of material for the TV series to adapt.
Albrecht joked: “Our biggest problem is we don’t kill [main characters] Caitriona and Sam along the way. The two of them are fantastic and deserve every bit of the accolades they have received.”
The first two seasons of Outlander are out now on DVD.
Season 4 will air in the US on Starz this autumn and will be available to watch on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
