‘Death on the Nile’ trailer: Poirot sequel finally arrives in cinemas soon

A new trailer has been unveiled for the long-delayed sequel to Murder on the Orient Express.

The follow-up to 2017’s hit Agatha Christie adaptation sees director Kenneth Branagh reprise the role of Hercule Poirot.

Death on the Nile has had its release date pushed back multiple times over the past few years.

The movie was originally due in 2019, before being postponed to October 2020 then again to September 2021, and once again earlier this year to next spring.

An all-star cast features Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Rose Leslie (Downton Abbey), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Annette Bening (American Beauty), Ali Fazal (Victoria & Abdul), Sophie Okonedo (Christopher Robin), Tom Bateman (Vanity Fair), and Russell Brand.

They’re joined too by comedy double-act Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders!

Fingers crossed, Death on the Nile will finally arrive in cinemas on 11th February 2022.

The official synopsis reads: “Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot’s Egyptian vacation aboard a glamorous river steamer turns into a terrifying search for a murderer when a picture-perfect couple’s idyllic honeymoon is tragically cut short.

“Set against an epic landscape of sweeping desert vistas and the majestic Giza pyramids, this tale of unbridled passion and incapacitating jealousy features a cosmopolitan group of impeccably dressed travelers, and enough wicked twists and turns to leave audiences guessing until the final, shocking denouement.”

Death on the Nile is based on Agatha Christie’s classic murder mystery novel, originally published in 1937.

2022 looks set to be a great year for Kenneth Branagh, with the director and star being being tipped for Oscar success at next year’s Academy Awards for Belfast.

Set in the late 1960s in Northern Ireland, Branagh’s recent period drama movie stars Caitriona Balfe (Outlander), Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey), Dame Judi Dench (Skyfall), and Colin Morgan (Merlin).
