‘Downton Abbey’ creator reveals who is the cast’s ‘greatest success story’
Julian Fellowes has revealed which Downton cast member has become the biggest star.
Based on ITV’s hit period drama series, the long-awaited Downton Abbey movie has reunited almost the entire cast.
The film doesn’t feature the return of Lily James as Lady Rose MacClare, however.
Producer Gareth Neame joked to EW: “She can’t be [in it]; she’s in every other film at the world at the moment.”
Since leaving Downton, the actress has appeared in a run of hit movies, including The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, Cinderella, Baby Driver, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and this summer’s Beatles movie Yesterday.
Discussing the 30-year-old War & Peace star’s rise to fame, writer Julian Fellowes proudly commented: “She’s our greatest success story from the cast of the show.”
Lily James joined the cast of Downton Abbey in the show’s third season and departed in Season 5 when Lady Rose left for America.
She’ll next be seen in the upcoming movie adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca, playing Mrs. de Winter.
