‘Endeavour’ team have confirmed sad news about Season 9
It’s a sad day for fans of Endeavour.
ITV has officially announced that the next season of the Inspector Morse prequel series will be the show’s last.
Starring Shaun Evans as the young Morse, Endeavour originally launched with a single film on in January 2012, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Inspector Morse’s television debut.
We can now confirm that a ninth season is currently shooting in Oxford, England.
However, the three upcoming episodes will bring the Endeavour story to an end, ITV has officially announced.
We’re told that the decision was a mutual one made by producers Mammoth Screen, screenwriter Russell Lewis, and stars Shaun Evans and Roger Allam.
An official press release says that “ITV’s drama commissioning team respectfully accepts this creative decision and would like to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone associated with Endeavour who have made the drama such a well loved part of the UK’s drama landscape.”
Season 9’s three episodes will bring the series to a total of 36 films, surpassing Inspector Morse‘s run of 33 episodes between 1987 and 2000.

It’s not a huge surprise, as Shaun Evans had previously seemed unsure about the possibility of another season, saying last year: “That’s a decision for the whole team.”
Season 9 will premiere in 2023 in the UK on ITV and in the US on PBS.
PBS unveiled a look ahead at this year’s Masterpiece Mystery! season earlier this week.
The upcoming Sunday night crime drama programming includes Endeavour, Grantchester, Guilt, Miss Scarlet and The Duke, and more.
Endeavour creator Russell Lewis’s hit crime drama Grace was renewed for a third season this week.
Adapted by from Peter James’ award winning Roy Grace novels, the ITV series will begin shooting three new episodes in Brighton, England later in 2022.
Season 2 of Grace premiered in the UK this spring and will debut on BritBox in the US soon.
