‘Enola Holmes’ sequel confirms which characters will be back

The second Enola Holmes movie begins filming in London very soon!

As the producers prepare for the start of production, Netflix has made some cast announcements for the project.

Based on Nancy Springer’s book series about the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes, the first movie premiered on Netflix last autumn.

The adaptation starred Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown as the titular young detective and received positive reviews.

With more than 76 million households watching Enola Holmes in its first 28 days on Netflix, a follow-up was inevitably announced earlier this year.

Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill (Batman vs Superman) were previously confirmed to be reprising their roles as Enola Holmes and Sherlock Holmes.

We now also know that Helena Bonham Carter, Susan Wokoma, and Adeel Akhtar are returning as Eudoria Holmes, Edith, and Lestrade respectively.

Louis Partridge (Medici) is back too as Tewkesbury, revealing the news as part of Netflix’s global fan event TUDUM last week.

New additions to the cast will include David Thewlis (Harry Potter), Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Doctor Who), Hannah Dodd (Harlots), Abbie Hern (The Pact), Gabriel Tierney (Endeavour), and Serrana Su-Ling Bliss.

It’s currently unclear, however, if Sam Claflin (Peaky Blinders) will be back as Mycroft Holmes.

Also returning from the first film are director Harry Bradbeer (Grantchester), and writer Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child).

Millie Bobby Brown previously commented: “I can’t wait to collaborate again with my Enola Holmes family. Enola holds a special place in my heart — she’s strong, fearless, intelligent and brave.”

The 17-year-old British actress added: “I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues!”

Enola Holmes 2 will premiere exclusively on Netflix in 2022.
