‘Father Brown’ is back: Season 10 release date announced
The BBC has announced when the next season of Father Brown begins.
The popular period crime drama follows the titular clerical sleuth’s mystery-solving skills in the Cotswolds during the early 1950s.
Based on the stories by GK Chesterton, Father Brown has been a daytime hit for BBC One since 2013, and the show celebrated its 100th episode earlier this year.
Filming began on 10 brand new episodes in May, with the series now back into its regular production routine following an unexpected two-year break due to Covid in 2020.
When does Season 10 start?
The ten-part new season premieres in the UK at 1.45pm on Friday 6th January 2023 on BBC One.
Titled ‘The Winds of Change’, the first episode sees Father Brown discover that a murderer is using Kembleford’s new model village to plan their attacks.
In the second episode, ‘The Company of Men’, Lady Felicia makes an impromptu visit, coinciding with Father Brown helping out a friend at an exclusive Gentlemen’s Club.
Normally Father Brown begins each season on a Monday, with the whole season airing daily on weekdays over the following fortnight.
It’s not yet clear if Season 10 will follow this traditional broadcast pattern, or if the Friday premiere date suggests that episodes will air weekly over a couple of months.
Either way, all 10 new episodes will also be streaming on BBC iPlayer from 6th January.
The tenth season of Father Brown will arrive on BritBox in the US in early 2023 – we’ll let you know the exact date as soon as we hear.
Also returning in 2023 is Sister Boniface Mysteries!
