Filming has wrapped on the new Bridget Jones film ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy’
Film production company Working Title has confirmed via an announcement on X that filming has wrapped on the fourth Bridget Jones film, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. Filming began in May 2024 in London.
“That’s a wrap. See you on Valentine’s Day” says the photo caption, confirming that the film will be released on Valentine’s Day next year.
Bridget Jones’ Diary author Helen Fielding confirmed back in 2022 that she was working on a fourth instalment of the Bridget Jones film franchise. The film will be based on the third Bridget Jones book, which focuses on Bridget’s life as a 50-something, navigating the challenges of motherhood.
Who is in the cast?
Oscar-winner Renée Zellweger is back as Bridget, with Paddington star Hugh Grant reprising the role of Daniel Cleaver, after being absent from the third film Bridget Jones’s Baby.
Fans will be disappointed to hear that Colin Firth does not appear in the fourth outing.
However, the regular cast members from the first film are back on board, including Shirley Henderson, Sally Phillips and James Callis as Bridget’s friends, Jude, Sharon and Tom. Gemma Jones and Jim Broadbent return as Bridget’s parents, along with additional cast members Sarah Solemani and Emma Thompson, who both appeared in Bridget Jones’ Baby.
Love Actually’s Chiwetel Ejiofor and One Day‘s Leo Woodall have also joined the cast but it is not clear what their roles are.
Who is behind it?
The screenplay was written by Helen Fielding, Dan Mazar and Abi Morgan. It was produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner with Helen Fielding, Amelia Granger, Jo Wallett and Sarah-Jane Wright as executive producers.
When will it be released?
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy will be released on Valentine’s Day next year: February 14, 2025.
