Hugh Bonneville is far from ‘Downton’ in new thriller ‘I Came By’ – watch the trailer!
A trailer has been unveiled for Netflix’s upcoming original movie I Came By.
Set in contemporary London, the neo-noir thriller is led by a trio of period drama stars; Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey), George Mackay (1917), and Kelly Macdonald (Gosford Park).
“Privilege hides the darkest secrets,” reads the tagline for I Came By.
After uncovering a sinister secret of a prestigious judge (Bonneville), a young graffiti artist (Mackay) and his loved ones are dragged into a deadly game of cat and mouse.
This certainly looks like a much darker part for Hugh Bonneville than his usual cuddly characters in Downton and Paddington!
We’re intrigued to see him explore a more sinister role when I Came By arrives in select cinemas from Friday 19th August.
It’ll then be released on Netflix a couple of weeks later, streaming from Wednesday 31st August.

Directed by BAFTA winner Babak Anvari (Under the Shadow), I Came By was co-written with His Dark Materials screenwriter Namsi Khan.
The cast also includes joined by Percelle Ascott (The Innocents) and Varada Sethu (Strike Back).
Fresh from reprising his role as Lord Grantham in the second Downton Abbey movie this spring, Hugh Bonneville has a busy year coming up.
He’s currently shooting the BBC’s new ’80s heist drama The Gold, and is set to begin filming the much-anticipated third Paddington movie soon.
Bonneville also recently announced that he’ll be publishing a memoir about his life this autumn, as well as heading out on a book tour if you want to see him recount his tales in person!
Playing Under the Piano: From Downton to Darkest Peru is described as “a moving, laugh-out-loud memoir from one of today’s best-loved British actors.”
