A release date has been announced for Dan Stevens’ new movie.
The 38-year-old English actor shot to fame as Matthew Crawley in the first few years of hit period drama series Downton Abbey.
However, his latest project is perhaps his most challenging yet…
I’m Your Man (Ich bin dein Mensch) sees Stevens play a humanoid robot who speaks fluent German!
As this clip shows, the Downton star completely nails it:
Directed by co-written by Maria Schrader, the film is described as “a tragicomic tale that explores notions of love, longing and what makes someone human.”
I’m Your Man won a Silver Bear Award for Stevens’ co-star Maren Eggert at the 2021 Berlin International Film Festival.
The official synopsis reads: “Alma is a scientist at the famous Pergamon Museum in Berlin. In order to obtain research funds for her work, she is persuaded to participate in an extraordinary study.
“For three weeks, she has to live with a humanoid robot tailored to her character and needs, whose artificial intelligence is designed to be the perfect life partner for her. Alma meets Tom, a machine in human form in a class of its own, created solely to make her happy.”

It’ll then arrive in US theatres on Friday 17th September.
Dan Stevens recently appeared in Amazon’s uplifting new drama series Solos, alongside Helen Mirren and Anne Hathaway.

Don’t despair too much though, as there are still over 40 British period drama movies on their way in 2021.
