‘Versailles’ and ‘Downton’ stars join Netflix’s new rom-com ‘Irish Wish’
Netflix has cast a number of British period drama actors in Irish Wish.
The upcoming romantic comedy will be led by American actress Lindsay Lohan, best known as a teen star in the likes of Freaky Friday, Mean Girls and The Parent Trap.
Currently staging something of a career resurgence, Lohan is back this festive season with brand new holiday movie Falling for Christmas.
Netflix are clearly happy with the film, as Lohan and Falling for Christmas director Janeen Damian will be teaming up again for Irish Wish.
She’ll be joined by some familiar faces, including Ed Speleers (Outlander, Downton Abbey), Alexander Vlahos (Sanditon, Versailles), Ayesha Curry (About Last Night), Elizabeth Tan (Emily in Paris, The Singapore Grip), and former Bond girl Jane Seymour (Live and Let Die).
The official synopsis for Irish Wish reads: “When the love of her life gets engaged to her best-friend, Maddie puts her feelings aside to be a bridesmaid at their wedding in Ireland.
“Days before the pair are set to marry, Maddie makes a spontaneous wish for true love, only to wake up as the bride-to-be. With her dream seeming to come true, Maddie soon realizes that her real soulmate is someone else entirely.”
Written by Kirsten Hansen, the movie begins filming in Ireland soon.
Falling for Christmas will be released Netflix next month on 10th November.
Irish Wish is expected to arrive on the streaming service in 2023.
The third season of Sanditon is also set to premiere next year, although it’s currently unclear if Alexander Vlahos will be returning as Charles Lockhart following the events of Season 2’s finale.
Versailles is available on DVD on Amazon.
