Based on D. H. Lawrence’s classic novel, first published in 1928 before being banned in the UK until the ’60s, the film is written by Life of Pi screenwriter David Magee.
Leading the cast as Constance is English actress Emma Corrin, best known for her role as the young Princess Diana in the fourth season of The Crown.

Corrin is joined by Jack O’Connell (The North Water) and Matthew Duckett (A Confession) as groundskeeper Oliver Mellors and Constance’s husband, Sir Clifford Chatterley.
The cast also includes Joely Richardson (The Tudors) as housekeeper Mrs. Bolton, Ella Hunt (Cold Feet) as Mrs. Flint, and Faye Marsay (Game of Thrones) as Hilda.
Lady Chatterley’s Lover is getting a limited release in cinemas on Friday 25th November.
The movie will then be streaming exclusively on Netflix from Friday 2nd December.
The official synopsis from Netflix reads: “The film stars The Crown’s Emma Corrin as Lady Constance Chatterley, whose happy marriage to Sir Clifford Chatterley (Matthew Duckett) soon turns sour when he returns wounded and scarred from World War I.
“No longer able to walk, Clifford treats his wife as a nursemaid, leaving her more lonely than she thought possible. For a while, Constance’s only companion is housekeeper Mrs. Bolton (Joely Richardson).
“But things change when she meets Oliver Mellors (Jack O’Connell), the new gamekeeper for the couple’s English estate. What begins as a tentative flirtation soon explodes into a mess of passion and sexual discovery that threatens to unravel Constance’s entire existence.”
Discussing the appeal of D. H. Lawrence’s novel, director Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre explained: “He was one of the very few male writers to address female sexual pleasure. That’s why it was so scandalous.”
She added: “But it was in the sense of really glorifying the revitalization of human beings through connections, sensuality, nature. And it was very avant-garde. No one was really ready to accept it. And we are not fully ready yet to accept it today.”
Emma Corrin recently returned to our screens in an adaptation of My Policeman, alongside Harry Styles (Dunkirk).
Set in the 1950s in Brighton, England, the emotional story of forbidden love is based on Bethan Roberts’ novel.
