‘Malory Towers’ confirms two-part Christmas special episodes
We’re heading back to Malory Towers sooner than expected!
Based on the classic novels by English author Enid Blyton, the children’s drama series first aired back in April 2020, becoming a lockdown hit with kids.
Following the popularity of the first season, Malory Towers was recommissioned for another two seasons, and a fourth season was announced this summer.
It’s now been announced that prior to the new season, the show will return with two special episodes this Christmas!
Set in 1940s England, Malory Towers follows the adventures of a group of friends attending a boarding school in Cornwall, where they have learned to navigate their formative years with the help of their schoolmates.
Filmed earlier this year, the pair of 25-minute specials will premiere on CBBC and on BBC iPlayer in December.
The Christmas adventure features “the festive shenanigans of Darrell Rivers and pals.”
Joining the cast in in these seasonal episodes are Valerie Lilley (Bloodlands, Marcella) as Great Granny Mary, alongside Charles Jackson as Ron’s younger brother Fred Gilson, who we’re told is soon on hand to help the pupils with local pirate legends.
Executive producer Jo Sargent commented: “We couldn’t be happier to be bringing festive cheer to the halls of Malory Towers, joining the girls as they celebrate with a few adventurous hijinks.”
She added: “It is the perfect viewing for all the family to get together and watch.”
All 39 episodes from the first three seasons are currently available to stream in the UK on BBC iPlayer.
Also coming to CBBC this Christmas are three special episodes of Dodger!
Set in the world of Oliver Twist before the events of Charles Dickens’ classic novel, the popular kids’ series follows the Artful Dodger and his gang as they find ingenious ways to survive Victorian London in the 1830s.
Malory Towers airs on the Family Channel in Canada and on BYUtv in the US.
Season 4 finished filming last month and will premiere in 2023.
