Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery has joined the cast of an intriguing new film project.
The movie will be the directorial debut of Steven Spielberg’s daughter, Destry Allyn Spielberg.
Dockery has explored a wide range of different genres since Downton ended in 2015, finding great success in Apple TV’s Defending Jacob, Western drama Godless, and last year’s Netflix series Anatomy of a Scandal.
The 41-year-old English actress will start shooting the new psychological thriller movie in New Mexico later this month.
“It’s a dream come true to work with a talent such as Michelle Dockery,” said director Destry Allyn Spielberg.
“I am so grateful to have the opportunity to bring this story to the screen with such a collaborative and inspirational team,” she added.
“This picture is so much more than just a horror film. I am excited to elevate the genre with our incredible cast and crew.”
Please Don’t Feed the Children is set after a viral outbreak has ravaged the country’s adult population.
The synopsis tells us that “a group of orphans heads south in search of a new life, only to find themselves at the mercy of a deranged woman harboring a dangerous secret.”
Presumably, Michelle Dockery will be playing this deranged woman!
It’ll be fun to see the talented actress continue to break away from the period drama characters which made her name in Downton Abbey, Anna Karenina, The Turn of the Screw, and Return to Cranford.
Please Don’t Feed the Children is expected to arrive in cinemas in 2024.
Next up for Michelle Dockery is a leading role in This Town, from the creator of Peaky Blinders!
The upcoming BBC drama series is set against the backdrop of the UK’s Two Tone music scene in the late 1970s.
Dockery is also appearing in a new action-thriller called Boy Kills World later this year.
