‘Miss Scarlet and The Duke’ confirms Season 4 is already filming

The makers of Miss Scarlet and The Duke have revealed an exciting update ahead of its return this weekend.

Set in Victorian London, the hit period drama returns on PBS this Sunday with its third season.

Fans can look forward to plenty more mysteries, however, as a fourth season has been confirmed already!

Miss Scarlet and The Duke premiered in the UK in early 2020 and launched in the US the following year on PBS.

The crime series has become hugely popular in both countries, attracting 8 million viewers in the US.

When’s the release date for Season 4?

Filming resumed in Belgrade, capital city of Serbia, in November 2022.

Usually the new episodes are shown in the UK first on the Alibi channel.

But the third season is making its debut in the US on PBS, just three months after Season 2’s premiere!

This makes it hard to predict when the fourth season will arrive, as usually we’d expect at least a year in between seasons.

(There was a wait of more than two years between the original premiere dates for Season 1 and Season 2.)

The Miss Scarlet and The Duke team seem to have a very efficient production routine running now, so it’s possible we could see Season 4 premiering as soon as this autumn.

We expect PBS to once again make the new season available to watch early for streaming on PBS Passport, ahead of the episodes’ weekly Sunday night TV broadcast.

Our guess is that that Season 4 will be released in the US on PBS Passport in late 2023, before airing on PBS at the start of 2024.

We’ll let you know as soon as there’s an official announcement!

In the meantime, Season 3 is expected to premiere in the UK on Alibi in early 2023.

Who’ll be back in Season 4?

Kate Phillips (The Crown, Wolf Hall) is reprising her role as Victorian London’s fictional first-ever female detective, alongside Stuart Martin (Jamestown, Rebel Moon) as Inspector William “The Duke” Wellington.

They’ll be joined by Cathy Belton (Hidden Assets), Evan McCabe (Doctor Who), Felix Scott (Our House), Paul Bazely (Black Mirror), Curtis Kantsa (The Sandman), Simon Ludders (Bridgerton), and Tim Chipping (Liar).

Miss Scarlet and The Duke is available on DVD on Amazon.
