‘Morse and the Last Endeavour’ documentary follows final ‘Endeavour’ ep
ITV has announced details of a brand new Endeavour documentary!
Starring Shaun Evans as the young Endeavour Morse, ITV’s spin-off series launched in 2012 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Inspector Morse’s television debut.
11 years, nine seasons, and 36 episodes later, it’s now time to say goodbye to Endeavour this weekend.
The last ever episode of Endeavour is airing at 8pm on Sunday 12th March on ITV1.
Titled ‘Exeunt’, the hit crime drama’s final feature-length film will follow Endeavour’s investigation into a number of untimely death notices in the Oxford Mail, as he is forced to confront his own mortality.
It’s going to be an emotional farewell, but the good news is that a 50-minute documentary will air later that night.
When is it on?
Morse and the Last Endeavour will air at 10.20pm on Sunday 12th March on ITV1, just after a quick news update.
We’re told that the one-off special will mark the end of the epic tale of Inspector Morse, the iconic Oxford detective celebrated the world over.
The official synopsis reads: “From the original Inspector Morse (1987-2000), through to the spin off Lewis in (2006-2015) and after ten years, the series Endeavour, which explores the detective’s back story in 1960s Britain, the story of Inspector Morse is finally coming to an end.”
Exploring the huge global appeal of this Oxford universe of crime, the documentary will feature interviews with all the main cast members!
Endeavour star Shaun Evan will explores his journey from acting to also directing episodes of the series, while original Morse star Kevin Whately will look back at the huge effect the hit detective series has had on his career.
Narrated by Barbara Flynn, Morse and the Last Endeavour will also take a behind the scenes look at filming the final season of Endeavour, as the writers tie together over six decades of interconnecting plots.
It sounds like a lovely way to pay tribute to a character who first appeared on our television screens way back in 1987!
Morse and the Last Endeavour will be streaming on ITVX, where you can catch every previous episode of Endeavour too.
Season 9 will premiere in the US later this year on PBS, and we expect they’ll also air the documentary.
Next up for Shaun Evans is Delia Balmer, a new ITV true crime drama from the makers of Line of Duty, Bodyguard, and Vigil.
The four-part mini-series will tell the extraordinary true story of Delia Balmer, who survived a near-fatal relationship with murderer John Sweeney in the 1990s.
Evans will be playing Sweeney, alongside The Bletchley Circle star Anna Maxwell Martin as Balmer.
Endeavour is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
