‘Nolly’ release date confirmed on ITVX: Helena Bonham Carter plays ‘Crossroads’ icon
ITVX has announced when the much-anticipated Nolly will premiere!
Ahead of overseeing Doctor Who‘s 60th anniversary for the BBC next autumn, It’s a Sin writer Russell T Davies is back with a brand new TV drama about actress Noele Gordon.
Davies is best known as the creator of A Very English Scandal, The Grand, and Years & Years.
Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech) leads the cast of Nolly as the titular Crossroads star.
When it was announced last year, the three-part mini-series was pitched as “a sharp, affectionate and heart-breaking portrait of a forgotten icon.”

Set in the early 1980s, ITV’s three-part drama will explore “the all-powerful reign, and fall from grace, of the inimitable Noele Gordon, TV legend and Queen of the Midlands, the darling of the establishment until it turned on her and betrayed her.”
Who’s in it?
The Crown star Helena Bonham Carter will be joined in Nolly by Mark Gatiss (Sherlock) as legendary entertainer Larry Grayson, Augustus Prew (The Morning Show) as Nolly’s Crossroads co-star Tony Adams.
Also appearing are Con O’Neill (Happy Valley), Tim Wallers (Belgravia), Richard Lintern (Silent Witness), Antonia Bernath (Downton Abbey), Clare Foster (The Crown), Chloe Harris (The Spanish Princess), and Lloyd Griffith (It’s A Sin).
When’s the release date?
It’s been revealed today that all three episodes of Nolly will be available to stream in the UK from Thursday 2nd February 2023 on ITVX.
ITV’s new streaming service launched earlier this month, premiering Damian Lewis’ Cold War drama A Spy Among Friends, and period drama The Confessions of Frannie Langton.
Also coming up on ITVX in January is Keeley Hawes and Matthew Macfadyen’s real-life ’70s political scandal series Stonehouse.

Following its streaming premiere on ITVX, Nolly will also get a traditional broadcast on ITV later in 2023.
It’ll air in the US on PBS.
The official synopsis reads: “Noele (or Nolly to her friends) was a legend in her own lifetime. As flame-haired widow Meg Richardson in the long-running soap opera Crossroads, she was one of the most famous people in Britain.
“Then in 1981, at the height of the show’s success and the peak of Nolly’s fame, she was axed without ceremony, without warning and with no explanation.
“With the boss’s words “all good things must come to an end” ringing in her ears, Noele Gordon found herself thrown out of the show that was her life for over 18 years.”
A Very English Scandal is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
