‘Outlander’ delay: Fans have an even longer wait for Season 5 than expected
The next season of Outlander has been pushed back a few months.
12 new episodes began filming in Scotland earlier this year and fans were already expecting a typically long wait for them to premiere.
It had been rumoured that Season 5 would debut at the end of 2019 or the start of 2020.
However, Starz network’s Chief Operating Officer, Jeffrey A Hirsch, has now confirmed that the show won’t be back until Spring 2020.
Speaking at the Television Critics Tour in California, Hirsch explained: “Everything we do is based on delivery, trying to have something on the air to serve that premium female audience.”
He added: “We have some shows coming before like Power that serve the general market. It’s more about scheduling around that digital experience.”
Whatever that means!
Based on the fifth book in author Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, The Fiery Cross, the fifth season will air on Starz in the USA and on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, who play Claire and Jamie, recently provided fans with a little behind the scenes teaser.
The latest season of Outlander concluded in January, with another two seasons already confirmed.
Season 4 is available on DVD on Amazon.
